How to Add or Remove Keys from your Tesla Model 3

Adding a Key Fob or Card

Step 1 – On the touchscreen press Controls –> Locks –> Press the ‘+’ sign under keys

Step 2 – Scan your new fob or card on the reader (Behind the cup holders at the top of the central console). After it’s recognised remove it from the reader.

Step 3 – Scan a card or fob that is already connected to your car in the same place.

Step 4 – The new fob or card will now display on the list on the touchscreen. You can call it something new if you wish by pressing the pencil icon.

Adding a Phone Key

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your Tesla Model 3 and ensure you have the Tesla mobile app installed and connected to your Tesla account.

Step 1 –  While in your Tesla open the app on your phone and, after selecting the correct vehicle press Phone Key –> Start

Step 2 – Scan a card or fob that is already connected to your car in the reader behind the cup holders at the top of the central console.

Step 3 – The mobile app will confirm the successful pairing of the two.  The key list on the touchscreen will now display your new phone key.

Removing a connected Key

When you no longer wish to use a connected key you can remove the key by following these steps

Step 1 – Press Controls –> Locks on the touchscreen

Step 2 – Find the key you’d like to remove in the list of keys. Touch the key and then press the bin icon to delete the key.

Step 3 – Scan a fob or card that has already been authenticated to confirm the deletion.
